Google is done selling the Pixel Tablet. After weeks of sitting in “out of stock” limbo, the product page has now vanished entirely from the Google Store, and the tablet has disappeared from Amazon and Best Buy too. If you wanted a brand-new one straight from Google, that window has closed.
The Pixel Tablet launched back in 2023 as Google’s attempt at a two-in-one device — a regular Android tablet that doubled as a smart home display when docked to its charging speaker. At $499, it was a neat idea on paper, but the reception was mixed from day one, and it never really found its footing.
Reportedly, Google had already given up on the idea internally well before this. Plans for a second-gen model in 2025 and a third-gen follow-up in 2027 were said to be in the works, but poor sales and profitability concerns led Google to quietly shelve both back in 2024. The original tablet just kept selling in the meantime — until now.
Right now, there’s no official channel left to buy a new Pixel Tablet. Smaller retailers or resellers might still have leftover stock floating around, but Google’s own supply is gone for good.
The one bit of good news is that existing owners aren’t being abandoned. Google is expected to keep pushing software updates to the Pixel Tablet through mid-2028, so the hardware you already own isn’t going to stop working anytime soon. There’s just nothing coming to replace it.
It’s a shame, honestly. A tablet that could switch between a handheld Android device and a smart display made a lot of sense, especially for anyone already living in Google’s ecosystem. The execution just didn’t land the way Google hoped.
So that’s it — the Pixel Tablet is dead, and this time it looks permanent. We’ll update this if Google ever decides to give tablets another shot.
