Apple’s newest MacBook has barely been on sale and it is already hard to get. The MacBook Neo is now showing a May delivery window for online orders, as demand has outpaced Apple’s original production forecast by a significant margin.
Apple initially planned to manufacture between 5 and 6 million units for the launch window. That figure has now been revised upward past 10 million, a sign that the company is treating the MacBook Neo as a breakout product rather than a niche addition to the lineup.
This should not come as a total surprise. The MacBook Neo was positioned as Apple’s most affordable MacBook ever — and if recent sales data is any indicator, affordable Apple hardware moves extremely fast. Mac shipments grew 9% in Q1 2026, outpacing the broader PC market, and the MacBook Neo’s launch sits squarely in that momentum window.
Why Is This a Big Deal?
Supply-side sellouts are common for new Apple hardware, but they rarely result in production targets being doubled this quickly. The fact that Apple is ramping to 10 million units suggests the MacBook Neo has demand across multiple segments — students, casual users, and budget-conscious buyers who previously could not justify the entry-level MacBook Air price.
It also sets an interesting contrast with the rest of the PC industry. Samsung and Microsoft have both raised prices on their laptops and tablets in recent weeks, citing supply chain pressures. Apple has moved in the opposite direction with the MacBook Neo, and the market response is clearly validating that strategy.
When Can You Get One?
Online orders placed today are pointing to a May delivery window. If you want one sooner, your best bet is to check stock availability at an Apple Store or authorized retailer directly. Stock may vary by region and configuration.
It is also worth noting that Apple has a recycling promotion running through May 16 that offers 10% off AirPods and accessories when you recycle an eligible device in store — so if you are heading to pick up a MacBook Neo, that could be worth combining with the trip.
