Google Wallet is giving your loyalty cards and boarding passes a much more immersive look

Google has been steadily reworking Google Wallet over the past few months. After giving the app’s homepage a revamp with search back in May, the company is now turning its attention to how individual passes look and feel.

Instead of showing a small rectangular card floating against a Dynamic Color background, passes in Google Wallet now take up the entire screen. The whole page gets themed with the brand’s primary color, making each pass feel a lot more immersive than before.

The redesign also reorganizes how you interact with passes. Scrolling down now surfaces key actions like calling an associated phone number or visiting the brand’s official website. Settings that let you edit a pass’s nickname and control how it’s used have also moved. These options used to live in the three-dot overflow menu, but they now sit under a dedicated “Settings” section.

Interestingly, Google hasn’t completely done away with the old design. You can still access it by tapping a rewind icon in the top-right corner of a pass, in case you prefer the more compact look.

The new fullscreen design applies to all loyalty cards and boarding passes, including the ones you create manually. However, transit cards are sticking with the old design for now.

It’s a nicer-looking experience overall, though some of the brighter background colors could be a bit much if you’re pulling up a pass at night. Google appears to be rolling this out widely starting today, so you should see it on your device soon if you haven’t already.
