“Hello world!” — so goes the line that, even today, is the first thing Computer Science students learn to write in any programming language. And I am, first and foremost, a Computer Science graduate. So it seems only apt to introduce this new venture to everyone with the line immortalized by Brian Kernighan and Dennis Ritchie in their book “The C Programming Language”. So, hello world, and welcome to 8BitToast.
What’s 8BitToast?
First, let me explain what 8BitToast is all about. See, up until I started this website, and the accompanying Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat channels, I was working at one of India’s largest tech media companies.
It was fun while it lasted, and I learnt a lot. However, after spending nearly a decade at what was a startup when I joined, I realized that things weren’t fine.
8BitToast is my attempt at fixing the things I saw go wrong in my nearly ten years working within this industry.
Rather than a boastful tagline, I have chosen a simple mission statement for 8BitToast — Tech, Done Right! (and yes, we read-in the pause implied by the comma there).
In a nutshell, 8BitToast is a website (alongside the video channels linked above) that will cover the latest and greatest in tech, cover it with the facts, without clickbait, and definitely without any AI help.
We think that tech media works best when it is in the hands of people who are not only passionate about technology itself, but also about ensuring that the things they say, do, or recommend, are actually worth your while.
Who Even Am I?
I am Akshay. A tech enthusiast to the last fiber of my being, and a hardcore Potterhead, I fit smack dab in the middle of the nerd category.
I have a decade of experience with technology, and technology media — both in writing as well as in videos, and I have finally decided to try and cover technology the way I have always envisioned it.
Hopefully, you’ll like what I have planned.
So What’s Next?
Well, as you must have realized by now, I will be covering everything that strikes my fancy when it comes to technology at 8BitToast.
Whether it’s a new smartphone, or a game that everyone is excited about, I will try my very best to offer you my opinion, help, or just a healthy helping of wit to go alongside it all.
You will find me most active on Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat; and obviously, this website will get frequent updates with the latest in technology, to the best of my ability.
