As someone who writes about technology, I often find myself using both an iPhone and an Android device in my day to day life. That’s something I like doing, and it’s also something I have to do in order to stay up to date with everything that’s happening on both these operating systems. Now, on my iPhone, I can only install apps via the official App Store, but on Android the possibilities are endless. Still, for the most part, it’s best to install apps through the Play Store itself. The only problem is that Play Store has these auto-playing banner videos that annoy the hell out of me. If you’re in the same boat, you’ll be glad to know that it’s now possible to turn off autoplaying videos in Play Store; here’s how.
Turn off Autoplaying Videos in the Play Store
In order to turn off autoplaying videos in the Play Store, all you have to do is follow the steps mentioned below:
- Open the Play Store on your Android phone, and tap on the ‘hamburger menu’. Here, tap on ‘Settings’.
- Tap on ‘Auto-play videos‘, select ‘Don’t auto-play videos‘, and tap on ‘Done.’
Save Data, and Your Patience
Auto-playing videos are the bane of most things on the internet. They feel unnecessarily intrusive, and forced-down-out-throats. Even YouTube, which is a video platform, gives a simple toggle to disable auto-play for videos, but most websites and app stores do not, and that’s very troubling. It’s a pet peeve of mine, but at least the Play Store has given us the option to disable auto-playing videos. So, do you like videos auto-playing in the Play Store? Let me know in the comments.
