If you’ve had about enough of Apple releasing iOS updates that seem to get worse year after year, there’s some hope that things might get better next year. As per a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s focus for iOS 27 will not be on adding a bunch of new features.
Gurman said that iOS 27 will be similar to macOS X Snow Leopard which focused on improving the overall quality and performance rather than adding new features. Hopefully, this means that iOS 27 will be a bit more polished and bug-free at launch.
Gurman added, however, that Apple will be bringing more AI features with iOS 27, including adding AI to more first-party apps, alongside a new Health+ subscription for personalized health recommendations among other things.

Apple’s roll-out of AI features has not gone smoothly so far, with Apple Intelligence getting delayed, and then not having the features that Apple showed off and promised. Meanwhile, companies like Google and Samsung have a deeper and tightly integrated AI suite in their smartphones.
With iOS 27, Apple will undoubtedly want to at least catch-up with its competitors, if not leave them behind, and adding new AI features will prove instrumental in making sure iOS 27 remains relevant and competent in comparison with One UI and Android in general.
What do you think about Apple focusing on reliability and performance improvements with iOS 27? Do you think it’s a good move, or would you rather get more features even if it comes at the cost of bugs?
