In a bid to make it easier for you to shop for clothes online, and also to make Google Shopping the default store you buy from, Google announced a new Try it On feature in Search at Google I/O 2025.
The new feature is already available to try via Search Labs in the US. All you have to do is sign up for the feature in Labs, and you should have it available in Google Search right away. Once opted-in, you will be able to see a new “Try it On” option when you’re browsing for dresses, skirts, pants, etc., on Google.

Try it On works by taking a full-length picture of you. Then, it will generate a new image of you wearing the outfit in which you’re interested. You can also share and save the images it generates, so you can get opinions from your friends or significant other on an outfit as well.
The company says that Try it On works by utilizing an AI model that “understands the human body.” At the I/O 2025 keynote, the company talked about how the model understands the way clothing falls, drapes, and looks on the human body, and is therefore able to generate images of people in different types of clothes.
Toasty Take
This “new” Try it On feature isn’t exactly new. Plenty of apps have been doing this (to some extent) for a while now.
That said, Google’s implementation is, by far, the most realistic I have seen. Which means you get a more accurate idea of how certain clothes and outfits will look on you. Most apps that have been doing this simply do a “face-swap”, so to speak. While that can give you a fair idea of the outfit’s appearance on you, Google’s approach should lead to better results.
Personally, I’m excited to try out (pun intended) the new feature, and hopefully it helps me figure out which clothes will actually look good on me, before I even buy them. What do you think? Let me know in the comments.
