Google has today finally made its Google Store live in India. The company will now be selling its devices online via its official store.
This marks a major change in how Indian consumers have so far been getting their hands on Google devices. The company had earlier partnered with third-party retailers, including Flipkart, for the online sales of its Pixel smartphones, smart watches, and Nest devices.
Now, with the Google Store online in India, the company is selling its products directly to the users. These products include the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9a, Pixel Watch 3, and the Pixel Buds Pro 2.
Right now, the company has not listed any of its smart home products for sale in India, but there’s a high chance that Nest devices will make their way to the Google Store in India soon as well.
Meanwhile, to celebrate the launch of its online store, Google is offering a bunch of discounts on its products. Customers in India can avail offers such as No Cost EMI, as well as Bank Discounts on shopping for the latest Google products. The Google Store is also offering Google Store Credit on qualifying Pixel purchases in India.
With the Google Store in India, customers will have the option to purchase devices directly from Google. This does add a bit more trust into the equation, especially in India where purchasing smartphones online is becoming increasingly the standard. What’s more, the Google Store is also offering exchange offers for old devices, which might result in more people buying the Pixel 9 series.
Plus, with the highly leaked Pixel 10 series on the way, you may want to buy the Pixel 9 and make it look like the new thing by using the leaked Pixel 10 wallpapers. Just an idea.
Toasty Take
It’s always good to have a brand officially sell its products in India. When Apple started selling its products directly in India, even though it was online-only for a few years, it did have an impact. More people were willing to shell out the money for an iPhone when they knew they were getting an original product straight from Apple, and not from a third party retailer or seller who might try to scam them.
A similar trend might be in the offing for Google as well. However, Pixel smartphones in India face more challenges than just the purchasing avenues on offer. India is a price sensitive market, and when multiple Android smartphones are available at much lower prices, the Pixel lineup often gets left out in the Indian smartphone scene.
