Google Launches Nano Banana 2 with Faster Speeds, Improved Text Rendering and More

Google has rolled out Nano Banana 2, a major upgrade to its AI-powered image generation tools that blends high-quality visuals with faster performance and broader access across its ecosystem. This newest model, technically dubbed Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, aims to bring professional-grade image creation capabilities to a much wider audience than before.

One of the standout improvements with Nano Banana 2 is its ability to produce high-resolution images up to 4K and support multiple aspect ratios, giving creators more flexibility for social, print, or commercial use. It also maintains visual consistency for up to five characters and 14 objects in a single workflow, which is rare for AI image models — especially at this performance tier.

Under the surface, this model combines the reasoning and quality of advanced Pro-style generation with the speed of Gemini Flash, meaning users can generate detailed images with richer textures, sharper lighting, and improved text handling without the long wait times typical of slower, premium systems. Nano Banana 2 even integrates real-time web grounding in some workflows, letting it reference current data for more accurate depictions of real subjects and scenes.

Importantly, Google is continuing its focus on trust and transparency in AI media. All Nano Banana 2-generated images include SynthID watermarking, and support for C2PA Content Credentials makes it easier to identify when content is AI-generated.

In sum, Nano Banana 2 represents a significant leap forward in accessible image generation, giving users powerful creative tools while balancing speed, quality, and practical controls for real-world projects.
