Apple to Begin Production of Foldable iPhone this Fall

Apple is getting closer to a foldable iPhone launch in the near future. As per Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the company will start production of foldable iPhones this fall, with a release window in 2026.

According to Kuo, Apple’s supplier Foxconn will begin production in late Q3 2025 or early Q4 2025. While the display unit specifications have been finalized, the company is yet to finalize specs and design for the hinge, per Kuo.

According to the report, Samsung is manufacturing the display for the foldable iPhone. Apple has reportedly placed orders for 15 to 20 million foldable iPhones, which Kuo expects to be the cumulative demand for the foldable device over 2026, 2027, and 2028.

The foldable iPhone is expected to launch in 2026, which puts it in line with the launch timeline of the iPhone 18 next year as well.

Rumors about the foldable iPhone claim that the device will be 4.5mm thin when unfolded, and around 9 to 9.5mm when folded. It will feature under-display cameras, and the hinge-design is expected to result in no visible crease for the phone as well. It will also clearly be an expensive device, with estimates putting it around $2500. However, with the new Trump tariffs, this pricing may increase further as we approach the launch timeline of the device.

So what do you think about a foldable iPhone? Would you shell out upwards of $2500 for an iPhone that folds the exact same way as the Galaxy Z Fold?
