Assassin’s Creed, one of the most popular games out there, has finally revealed what’s in store for the next iteration of the franchise. Turns out, things are headed into Viking territory in the aptly named ‘Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla’.
Ubisoft today revealed the first trailer for the upcoming AAA title, and it looks exciting for sure.
The game stars Eivor, a Viking raider who leads his or her clans “from the harsh shores of Norway to a new home amid the lush farmlands of ninth-century England.” The reason I wrote “his or her” is because Ubisoft will allow players to choose the gender of Eivor, complete with customisation options. That’s nice, and it’s a practice I hope more games adopt.
The developer also teased the presence of side-activities such as fishing, drinking games, and “verbally devastating rivals through the art of the Viking rap battle.”
The game’s mechanics look similar to the new, more RPG-like gameplay that the franchise recently adopted. A lot of players preferred the game’s stealth approach to combat back in the day, but Ubisoft seems completely devoted towards the new RPG-like style in Valhalla, complete with deeper combat customisation.
Although unconfirmed as of now, the game should be launched for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. There’s also no doubt the developer will launch it for the upcoming PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as well, which are expected to launch around the holidays.
