Apple’s next Vision Pro update may have just been outed, thanks to a slip from the FCC. The agency posted documents referencing a “Head Mounted Device” with model number A3416, and the accompanying image looks very much like a Vision Pro headset.
The filings include transmission, SAR, and Wi-Fi test data. The item description names it Apple’s own design. Interestingly, there’s no indication the new model adds support for 6GHz Wi-Fi, so it likely continues using Wi-Fi 6. That suggests the upgrade focuses more on internal tweaks than connectivity leaps.
Rumors have placed the refreshed Vision Pro with an M5 chip swap, replacing the current M2 inside the headset. Design changes are expected to be minimal, meaning the visuals and form factor might stay largely the same. Prices, if the rumors prove true, could also hold steady at $3,499.

It seems Apple attempted to keep these tests confidential—the documents include a confidentiality request—but in a public filing the leaks slipped through. The FCC also published other files hinting at upcoming MacBook Pro and iPad Pro models, though those are less fleshed out.
One additional project shows up in the same leak: “Vision Air,” an ultra-light headset in development. It’s not expected to be revealed until 2027. Vision Air may offer a fresh spin on the augmented reality wearable category, possibly as a companion device rather than a full headset.
If what’s leaked holds true, Vision Pro’s next version could arrive later this year with improved performance rather than drastic aesthetic changes. It hints at Apple doubling down on chip upgrades while keeping design continuity. As usual with these early leaks, take them with caution, but for those waiting on the next Apple headset—this adds fuel to the rumor fire.
