It’s no surprise that the Pro Max variant of the iPhone usually has the best battery life numbers every year. The bigger size of the phone allows for a bigger battery, which in turn results in better battery life.
Well, a new leak from China has shed some light on the battery capacity of the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max, and it is going to be the largest iPhone battery we’ve seen so far, though it’s unlikely that this unit will be the same silicon battery rumored for the iPhone 17 Air.
According to a Weibo post from Chinese leaker “Instant Digital”, the next Pro Max iteration of the iPhone will come with a 5,000mAh battery. Their Weibo post included battery capacities of iPhones from the iPhone 11 Pro Max, all the way to the iPhone 16 Pro Max, followed by a mention of the iPhone 17 Pro Max with “~5,000mAh”.
The battery life offered by the iPhone 16 Pro Max’s 4,676 mAh battery is already stellar in most use-cases. A bigger 5,000mAh battery along with the new A19 Pro chipset and other software improvements is likely to give the iPhone 17 Pro Max a really impressive battery life. Well above the 33 hour battery life that Apple currently claims for the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
It remains to be seen whether this leak is accurate, and obviously rumored information should be taken with a pinch of salt. However, if the iPhone is finally going to breach the 5,000mAh battery mark, it might be a pretty good news for people who swear by the battery life of the iPhone Pro Max variants.
