As we get closer and closer to the iPhone 17’s September launch, more details seem to be leaking out from everywhere.
After rumors of an iPhone 17 Air with a Silicon battery, we now have new leaked photos of the MagSafe assembly for the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup. The new phones were expected to have a new MagSafe magnet layout than what we’ve seen on current iPhones, and these new photos from Majin Bu on X (formerly Twitter) seemingly showcase the new layout.
The images show a MagSafe magnet layout with an opening in the lower part of the circular layout. That is quite different from what we see on iPhones right now, where the magnets form a complete circle.
It’s unclear why this change has been made, and as per Majin Bu, case manufacturers have told him that current MagSafe accessories will remain compatible with the new layout, so it’s obviously not a functional change.
Bu also mentions that the Apple logo will sit lower on the body with the iPhone 17 series because of the larger camera bump. Apparently, the new MagSafe design will allow the logo to be fully visible when the iPhone 17 is being used with a new MagSafe case.
It remains to be seen whether these leaks are accurate, and whether Apple offers any explanation for the changed layout (if it is indeed true). Meanwhile, you can check out our roundup of everything we know about iPhone 17 Pro to keep up with the latest news and rumors about the upcoming iPhone.
