Apple has today officially announced the next iteration of its iPhone operating system and yes, it’s called iOS 26. Apple’s new year-based naming scheme will now ensure that iOS, macOS, iPadOS, visionOS, watchOS, and tvOS, will all have the same number going forward.
As expected, iOS 26 brings a host of new features, with the glass-like redesign being the biggest change on the face of things. Devices Compatible with iOS 26
iOS 26 is compatible with iPhones going as far back as the iPhone 11 and the iPhone SE (2nd gen), which means most iPhone users will be getting the latest update when it releases in stable version this fall. We also have an exhaustive list of devices compatible with iOS 26 that you can check out.
iOS 26 Release Date
As for when you’ll be able to get your hands on the latest iOS update, developers will be able to install iOS 26 developer beta once the profiles are released later today. A public beta will come out sometime in July, and the stable release is expected in September, right on time for the new iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro.
