visionOS 3 Will Let You Scroll Content with Your Eyes

As far as AR, VR, and MR headsets go, Apple’s Vision Pro has one of the most seamless user interfaces I’ve used. The eye tracking and hand tracking work so well that it quickly becomes second nature to look at a thing and tap your fingers together to select/open it.

Well, it seems that with visionOS 3, Apple is taking the AVP’s UI/UX to the next level. According to a new report from Bloomberg (link), the company is working on bringing a feature that will allow users to scroll through content using their eyes.

Right now, you can pinch your fingers and move your hand up and down to scroll in the Vision Pro. With the new feature, you won’t need to do even that.

It is unclear exactly how the feature will be implemented. But we should know more about it soon, because visionOS 3 is one of the announcements expected at WWDC 2025.

Toasty Take

I have been favorably impressed by the Apple Vision Pro ever since it first launched. I do concede that it’s expensive, and that the use-cases for normal, every day users are limited. However, the headset does a stellar job of setting the bar a bit too high for other AR/MR experiences.

I’m also curious to see how Apple implements the eye scrolling feature. Will it be based simply on when my eyes reach the bottom of a page with more content on it? That does seem to be the simplest option, but it also has the drawback of scrolling when I’m not yet done reading the line, or perhaps comprehending it.

Tracking the movements of my eye won’t be a problem for the Vision Pro — it already does that. But how it will know when I’m simply looking at the bottom edge of the screen versus when I’m trying to scroll the screen, is something I’m interested in knowing.

What do you think about this new feature? Do you think it’ll make it easier to use the Vision Pro, or will it be something you’ll turn off and just scroll using hand gestures?
