The Latest Crimson Desert Patch Adds Five New Mounts and Makes Stealing Way More Interesting

Pearl Abyss has dropped a new patch for Crimson Desert, and it brings two changes that players have been excited about. You can now ride five new mounts across Pywel, and stealing from NPCs has been reworked to feel a lot more like actual thievery.

Five New Mounts Are Now in the Game

The new mounts join Crimson Desert’s existing roster and cover a range of sizes and speeds. Pearl Abyss has not released a full breakdown of stats for each one yet, but early players note that the new additions feel visually distinct from what was already in the game.

If you have been spending a lot of time travelling across Pywel on foot, this is a good time to experiment with your options. The world in Crimson Desert is enormous. Fast travel exists but has its limitations, so having a reliable mount is one of the best quality-of-life upgrades you can make.

Finding and acquiring the new mounts will require some exploration. Some are tied to specific regions, while others appear to be rewards from side content. Expect a full guide from us shortly once we have tested each one.

Stealing Now Has a Witness System

This is the bigger change in terms of gameplay depth. Previously, taking items from NPCs came with a flat risk. You were either caught or you were not, and the outcome felt somewhat arbitrary.

The new system changes that. You now only get in trouble for stealing if an NPC actually sees you do it. If no one is watching, the item is yours and no one is the wiser.

This makes stealth builds a lot more viable and rewarding. It also adds a layer of strategy to how you approach towns and populated areas. Do you wait for an NPC to look away? Do you lure them somewhere else first? Or do you try to rush in and out before anyone notices?

If you are already running a build focused on agility or evasion, this system plays directly into that. It is worth revisiting your skills to see whether your current setup supports a stealthy playstyle. Crimson Desert’s skill tree has a lot of options that pair well with this kind of approach, and if your current build is not working for you, respeccing is straightforward and does not require a lot of resources.

Other Patch Notes

Beyond the mounts and the stealing system, the patch includes several smaller balance adjustments and bug fixes. Pearl Abyss has not published a full detailed changelog yet beyond the headline changes, but stability improvements are mentioned.

Combat tuning is also part of this patch. If you have been struggling with certain enemy types or boss encounters, it is worth jumping back in to see if the feel has changed. Players who found the Reed Devil boss fight particularly punishing before may find it slightly more manageable now.

A Good Time to Jump Back In

If you have been on a break from Crimson Desert, this patch is a decent reason to return. New mounts alone give you a fresh excuse to explore parts of the map you may have rushed through. The stealth theft system adds a new layer to how you interact with the world.

And if you are jumping in fresh or getting back into the rhythm, it is worth brushing up on some of the fundamentals. Knowing how to parry and counter effectively will serve you well in any situation the game throws at you. Similarly, upgrading your weapons properly makes a significant difference in how smoothly combat goes, regardless of what build you are running.

Pearl Abyss has not announced a specific release date for the next patch yet. But with content drops arriving at a steady pace, Crimson Desert’s post-launch support is shaping up to be one of the more active in the action RPG space right now.
