Google just made its AI subscription a lot harder to pass on. The company has upgraded the storage included in its $20 per month AI plan, and the updated offer is genuinely compelling — especially if you are already deep in Google’s ecosystem.
What Changed?
Google’s $20 per month plan already included access to Gemini Advanced, the company’s most capable AI assistant. It also came with Google One storage as part of the bundle. The latest change bumps that storage allocation up significantly, giving subscribers a much larger pool of space across Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Photos.
This is not just a minor tweak. More storage is one of the most common reasons people upgrade from a free Google account. By folding a generous storage increase into an AI subscription, Google is making it easier to justify the monthly cost — especially for users who were already thinking about buying more storage anyway.
How Does It Compare?
Apple’s comparable iCloud+ plans offer storage without the AI perks. Microsoft’s Copilot Pro plan sits at a similar price point but ties you into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. Google’s updated bundle is now arguably the strongest value of the three, particularly for Android users who rely heavily on Google Photos and Drive.
Google has been steadily building out Gemini’s capabilities on Android. Gemini Nano 4 is already on its way to Android devices, which means AI features are becoming more integrated into the core Android experience. The $20 plan is effectively the premium layer on top of that.
Is It Worth It?
If you are already paying for Google One storage separately, the math becomes very straightforward. At $20 per month, you are getting Gemini Advanced plus a significant storage upgrade — instead of paying separately for just one of those things.
For users who regularly video call through platforms like Google Meet, which recently arrived on Apple CarPlay, having everything bundled into one subscription makes managing your Google account simpler and cheaper overall.
The upgrade is available now for existing and new subscribers to the Google One AI Premium plan.
