Gemini Can Now Order Your Food and Book Rides on the Galaxy S26: Here’s How It Works

Google just made its most significant Android AI upgrade in years. Gemini task automation — also called screen automation — is now live on the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Rather than just answering questions or opening apps, Gemini can now navigate inside supported apps on your behalf and complete multi-step tasks while you do something else entirely.

What Can Gemini Do?

When you ask Gemini to order dinner through Uber Eats or book a ride using Uber, the AI assistant completes those tasks in a virtual window in the background. It can even run while you use other apps.

In real-world testing by Android Central, asking Gemini to “order a tall Medicine Ball tea from the nearest Starbucks for pickup” resulted in the AI opening the Starbucks app, navigating to the correct store, identifying the off-menu name as Citrus Honey Mint Tea, selecting the right size, customizing it, and adding it to the cart — all without any tapping.

The process stops just before the final confirmation step. When Gemini finishes building your order or setting up your ride, it sends a strong vibration notification and hands control back to you to finalize the transaction. You always confirm before any money is spent.

Which Apps Are Supported Right Now?

Currently supported apps include Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, and Starbucks. Instacart is expected to be added soon, and Google has confirmed it will expand support to more apps and categories throughout 2026.

You can also set permanent preferences inside Gemini’s Personal Intelligence settings — for example, always book the cheapest Uber option, or always choose gluten-free items.

How to Use It

Make sure your Galaxy S26 is running One UI 8.5 with the latest security patch. Long press the power button to invoke Gemini, then give a voice or text command such as “Get me a ride to the airport” or “Reorder my last meal.” Gemini will begin working in a background window.

What About Other Android Phones?

The feature is currently rolling out on the Galaxy S26 series in the US and South Korea. Google Pixel 10 series phones will also receive Gemini task automation, though no specific timeline has been given for that rollout.

This is a genuine step change from reactive AI assistants that answer questions to proactive AI agents that complete tasks. Whether it saves meaningful time or simply feels like magic the first time is something every Galaxy S26 owner should try today.
