Google Messages is getting a fresh redesign of its account menu that brings it in line with other apps. Tapping your avatar in the top right now opens a full-screen layout rather than a small overlay that showed your profile and a couple of recent conversations.
The new menu is laid out clearly under several sections. First, “More from this app” includes quick access to your Profile, Archived chats, Spam & blocked contacts, Mark all as read, and Device pairing. Below that, you’ll find “Your data in Messages,” Settings, and Help & Feedback. The design uses Material 3 Expressive containers, giving each item space and visual separation for a cleaner look.

Switching accounts is easier now too. The account switcher sits at the top and matches what you see in other Google apps. It feels consistent, though in Messages it is less critical given you rarely juggle multiple Google accounts there. This update is being rolled out broadly in both stable and beta versions, so most users should see it soon.
Google Contacts also got a refresh, with a new “Last sync” label and updated account behavior. On the other hand, some apps like Phone don’t include the account menu yet, and a few Google services remain holdouts. But the momentum is clear: Google is bringing its apps into visual and functional alignment as its ecosystem grows.
Overall, the redesign is subtle but meaningful. It doesn’t change how you message, but it cleans up access to tools you use behind the scenes. The menu feels less cramped, more intuitive, and more in sync with how Google wants its apps to look and operate. If you use Messages regularly, the update will make navigation and settings feel a little smoother.
