Apple Launches New 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Processor

Alongside the new M5 iPad Pro, Apple today introduced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its latest M5 chip. The upgrade is more than just a bump in specs—it delivers a meaningful boost in performance across the board.

Under the hood, the M5 keeps the same 10-core CPU layout but increases memory bandwidth to 153 GB/s. Apple says this chip delivers up to 15 percent faster performance in multithreaded tasks compared to the M4, while graphics performance gets a leap too—up to 45 percent faster in demanding workloads. Each GPU core now includes a Neural Accelerator, which helps with AI-driven tasks.

The MacBook Pro retains its familiar design. You’ll still get the Liquid Retina XDR display, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, SDXC card slot, headphone jack, and MagSafe charging. Battery life remains robust—Apple claims up to 24 hours of use on a single charge. Notably, Wi-Fi still stops at 6E rather than moving to Wi-Fi 7.

On storage, the base model starts with 512 GB, but you can now configure the machine all the way up to 4 TB—double the previous limit. Memory caps remain at 32 GB. Price starts at $1,599 in the U.S. Preorders are open now and units are set to ship October 22.

Apple is also rolling the M5 chip into other products. The iPad Pro and Vision Pro headset both get upgrades with the same silicon, aiming for better AI and graphics performance.

This release feels like a calculated step forward. Apple didn’t overhaul everything, but what it did upgrade adds up. For creators, developers, and pros who push hardware hard, this MacBook Pro reaffirms Apple’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
