First iOS 26 Public Beta with Liquid Glass Redesign is Here

Apple has officially released the first public beta of iOS 26 (and iPadOS 26), giving public beta program users access to the same features found in the fourth developer beta. The update can be installed on iOS 26 compatible iPhones directly via Settings → General → Software Update once enrolled in the Beta Software Program.

At the heart of iOS 26 lies the Liquid Glass interface, an aesthetic overhaul inspired by visionOS. Expect translucent menus, rounded icons, pop-out bars, and subtle light refractions that respond to touch and content. These visual refinements extend across the Lock Screen, Home Screen, Control Center, and system apps, delivering a more dynamic, glass-like feel throughout the experience.

Under the hood, Apple Intelligence gains serious upgrades. The new tools include Visual Intelligence for smarter screenshot analysis, Live Translation in Messages, FaceTime, and Phone, plus AirPlay support with real-time language conversion. Apple Music now features a DJ‑style AutoMix, and you can fuse multiple emojis into Genmoji with a tap. Plus, Wallet, Reminders, and Maps get AI‑enhanced behaviors powered by on‑device models like ChatGPT-style features.

On the messaging front, redesigned chat features bring custom conversation backgrounds, built‑in polls, and typing indicators in group chats. The Phone app now includes streamlined call‑screening tools for unknown numbers and a “Hold Assist” feature to better manage active calls. Not to mention, Apple has introduced a dedicated Games app for accessing Apple Arcade and the App Store—alongside enhanced Safari navigation, spatial photo effects, and redesigned UI in native apps.

This public beta rollout is Apple’s way of letting everyday users test-drive the most ambitious iOS update in years before its full debut likely in September 2025. For hands-on testers, it’s a chance to experience a bold fusion of visual flair and AI tutoring before the official release.
