There are a lot of impressive features in iOS, however, with iOS 12, Apple added another really cool feature to its mobile operating system — Screen Time. Screen Time is essentially a tool to help you manage your smartphone usage and combat smartphone addiction by giving you an overview of your smartphone usage, and letting you set app time limits on distracting apps so you can be more productive. Well, if you find yourself using some apps too much, here is how you can set app time limits on iPhone with Screen Time.
Set App Time Limits on iPhone with Screen Time
Note: This method works on every iPhone running iOS 12, which means everything from the iPhone 5s, to the latest iPhone XS,
Setting app timers in iOS is pretty easy, but for the sake of clarity, I’ll mention everything you need to do step-by-step.
- Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone, and tap on “Screen Time“
- Now, tap on “iPhone” and you’ll see a complete breakdown of your iPhone usage for the day. Now, tap on the app you want to set the app time limit on. For this example, I’ll set the app timer on Twitter.
- Tap on “Add Limit“. Now you can set the time limit you want. Once you’re done, just tap on “Add“.
That’s it, you’ve successfully set an app time limit on iOS using Screen Time. Once your time limit is exhausted, your iPhone will grey out the icon for Twitter (or the app you chose) on the home screen, and tapping it will simply show a pop-up informing you that you’ve used up your app time limit for the day.
Control Your Smartphone Usage with Screen Time on iPhone
Screen Time is honestly a very handy feature for anyone looking to rein in their smartphone usage and ensure that their productivity isn’t hindered by distracting apps on their iPhones. You can set a time limit on any app that you find distracting. So, for example, if you find yourself spending too much time playing PUBG Mobile, you can set a time limit on the app, and your iPhone will actively discourage you from playing the game once that time limit has been exhausted.
