With iOS 13, Apple has launched its brand new game subscription service, Apple Arcade, and one of its many cool features is the fact that users can now play Apple Arcade games with their PS4 or Xbox One controllers. So, if you’ve been itching to try out any of the over 100 games that Apple Arcade brings to the table, and you want to use your PlayStation 4 DualShock controller to play them, here’s how to connect PS4 controller to iPhone.
How to Connect PS4 Controller to iPhone with iOS 13
Connecting a dual shock controller to iPhone is actually straightforward — it connects like just another Bluetooth accessory. However, the tricky part is knowing how to put the PS4 controller into pairing mode so you can connect it to your iPhone via Bluetooth. Here’s what you need to do:
Note: I’m showing you this process with a PS4 controller and an iPhone 11 running iOS 13. However, the process will be exactly the same on any iPhone running the latest version of iOS.
- First, we’ll put the PS4 controller into pairing mode. To do this, simply press and hold the PS button and the Share button on the controller, until the Light Bar on the controller starts flashing. This indicates that the controller is in pairing mode.
- Now, on your iPhone, head over to Settings -> Bluetooth. Here, tap on “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller“.
That’s it. Your PS4 controller is now connected to your iPhone. Pretty simple, right?
You don’t need to repeat this process every time you want to connect your controller to your iPhone. Once you’ve paired the controller with Bluetooth, you can simply press the PS button to power it on, and it will automatically connect to your iPhone or iPad as long as you’ve kept the Bluetooth turned on.

Connect PS4 DualShock Controller to iOS and Play Games
Well that’s everything you need to do in order to connect your PlayStation controller to your iPhone (or iPad) via Bluetooth. Once you’ve paired your controller with your iPhone, you can start playing Apple Arcade games with the controller, or play any of the non-Apple Arcade games that support gamepads on iPhone. One of my favourites to play is Asphalt 9: Legends, but there are a lot more, and you can find them in the App Store.
So, have you played Apple Arcade games yet? How excited are you to pair your PS4 or Xbox One controller with your iPhone or iPad running iOS 13 and play games? Let us know in the comments down below. By the way, you can also pair a PS4 controller with Mac and play games with a controller on your laptop as well!
